Built in 330-20 BC, Epidaurus is the best-preserved example of a classical Greek theater

Stadium at Epidaurus

Selfies at Mycenae (Rich in Gold), the kingdom of Agamemnon. Mycenae is the most important palatial center of the Late Bronze Age in Greece. It is considered one of the greatest civilizations of Greek prehistory and played a vital role in the development of classical Greek culture.

Getting a tour of the Silo Art Factory.  Pottery from ancient Greece is an important tool for archaeologists to learn about and better understand ancient Greek's cultural beliefs and practices as well as the chronology of events.

Our lunch at the art factory

Trying our hand at making pottery.  Students learned some basic pottery skills as well as appreciating the difficulty of making pottery.

Entrance tunnel to stadium at Nemea. One of the earliest vaults of ancient Greece, it demonstrates the abilities of the engineers of the time.

The Temple of  Zeus in Nemea. Students continue our discussion of Preservation vs. Restoration. When ruins are preserved, they remain in the state they were found, allowing visitors to imagine history in one moment in time.  When ruins are restored, visitors are connected to the past through the eyes and research of archaeologists. This discussion will continue throughout the trip to allow students to better understand the work of archaeologists.
